Welcome to Drexel University!
I am sure you will find the program both stimulating and challenging.
I have a few tips and suggestions for success in the online program.
- First and foremost, keep the lines of communication open. Since you, your classmates and faculty are in remote settings, it is very important to keep in touch. If you have a question—ask it. If you have a life event that is interfering with your class work—tell faculty about it.
- When you first log into your course (or courses), be sure to review all the content. Pay particular attention to the syllabus and due dates (and plan accordingly). If something is not clear—ask for clarification.
- Don’t Procrastinate. One of the major problems students have is that they procrastinate and suddenly find that they are behind on their class work and it is week 9 of the 10 week term.
- Log on regularly.
- Centra Class meetings. These are virtual ‘real-time’ class meetings where you and your classmates get together with faculty. There is some technical preparation to make sure your PC is set up properly. Do this during the first week of classes. Don’t wait. If you have technical issues, you can work with Caroline Feenan (ccf26@drexel.edu) to resolve these but you don’t want to do this 5 minutes before class. There is a Centra FAQ and Set-up instruction folder in every online course that uses the virtual meeting room.
I hope this has been helpful.
If you have any other questions or comments, please post your question.
